Fun Fact:

Bacon is our steady leader and affectionate teacher, with a story as rich as his heart. He’s an American Quarter Horse; a breed known for its versatility, strength, and calm nature. Developed in the United States, Quarter Horses were bred for speed over short distances and quickly became the go-to breed for ranch work, rodeo events, and western riding. With his muscular build and quiet confidence, Bacon is a shining example of the all-around ranch horse.

In his early years, Bacon worked as both a ranch horse and a trail guide horse, helping riders navigate the terrain and handle cattle. His past is marked with literal history as he still bears brand marks on both sides from his former life. But after falling into a neglect situation, Bacon was rescued last year and began the long road back to health. It truly took a village of local kindhearted equestrians to get him where he is today.

Now fully recovered, Bacon leads our herd with calm authority. He teaches both riding lessons and participates in our Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy program, where his quiet strength and deep emotional intelligence help riders feel safe and supported. He’s incredibly responsive under saddle, with plenty of “buttons” from his ranch training—making him an excellent teacher for riders ready to grow in skill and connection.

When he’s not working, Bacon enjoys grazing with his friends, snuggling with kids, and standing under his fan napping in his stall. Whether in the arena or the pasture, Bacon brings wisdom, warmth, and a whole lot of heart.
